Amenorrhea – absence of menstruation

Absolutely every woman during her life one or more times is faced with the disappearance of menstruation. Amenorrhea itself is not a disease. It only indicates the course of other diseases in the body or the pathology of organs.

Types of amenorrhea
There are several types of amenorrhea:

● True ● Pathological

● False ● Primary

● Physiological ● Secondary

True amenorrhea
The most harmless variant of amenorrhea is true amenorrhea. It is determined by natural processes in a healthy body. True amenorrhea occurs when a woman, for obvious reasons, cannot conceive a child: during pregnancy, during breastfeeding (lactation), in menopause, or before puberty. True amenorrhea goes away on its own and should not be a cause for concern. In essence, it is physiological, so we will not cover physiological amenorrhea separately.

False amenorrhea
False amenorrhea is stated if there is menstruation, but due to anatomical abnormalities, menstrual blood does not come out. Such amenorrhea is treated with surgery. This can be a rudimentary incision of an overly dense hymen in adolescents, or surgery for serious abnormalities.

Pathological amenorrhea
Pathological amenorrhea is the most unpleasant of all types of amenorrhea. In this case, the absence of menstruation speaks of diseases occurring in the woman’s body. Such amenorrhea can be a consequence of surgical intervention in the uterus, adhesive disease, inflammation of the uterine appendages and other gynecological and not only gynecological diseases. Often amenorrhea becomes a manifestation of dysfunction of the ovaries or cerebral cortex, a violation of the hormonal background of a woman.

Treatment of amenorrhea of various degrees
Amenorrhea requires careful diagnosis and treatment. Moreover, the treatment is complex and rather lengthy. Despite the difficulties, one should not be afraid and postpone treatment until later. Amenorrhea progresses from the first to the third degree, while the third has extremely negative consequences:

Amenorrhea 1 degree: absence of menstruation for a year or less
Amenorrhea 2 degrees: absence of menstruation up to three years
Grade 3 amenorrhea: absence of menstruation for more than three years
In addition, amenorrhea is primary and secondary, depending on how many times a woman encounters it.

Consequences of taking hormonal drugs in the treatment of amenorrhea https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amenorrhea
One of the main fears of women about the treatment of amenorrhea is the consequences of taking hormonal drugs, on which the treatment is based. Our doctors avoid prescribing hormones whenever possible. First, we eliminate all possible causes of amenorrhea – that is, other identified diseases. Then the patient undergoes a course of physiotherapy, which has a very beneficial effect on strengthening and improving the body. And only if all this, together with a healthy lifestyle, does not help return menstruation, the doctor will prescribe hormonal drugs. But rest assured you will not receive premature or unnecessary appointments.

A visit to the doctor is required
Amenorrhea is not a disease, but only a symptom of other, more serious disorders in the body. Do not delay your visit to the doctor. Remember, a woman cannot get pregnant if she does not have a healthy menstrual cycle.
